Sometimes we find ourselves driving through a tunnel,
It is dark and cold, and stretches far beyond what you can see.
It is endless, constantly turning and twisting
Until you can no longer remember which way
You entered, and which way is the exit.
The darkness of the tunnel deceives us.
Are we the only ones here?
Has no one else come this way before?
We wish we could see what lies beyond.
We long to come through to the other side,
Because what we see in the moment is only darkness.
And just when we think that we are stuck there forever, a small flicker of light breaks through.
It is small, and if you blinked you might miss it.
But it is there.
So you keep driving, on and on.
And the more you drive, the more the flicker becomes a glimmer.
And that glimmer bursts through until the darkness of the tunnel is illuminated,
And you forgot that it was ever even dark to begin with.
Finally you emerge through to the other side.
And you see the beauty of the city lights,
Something overflowing with life and joy.
And suddenly you realize
The light was always there,
Waiting at the end of the tunnel.
You just had to make the choice to keep going before you could see it.
