There is so much beauty in the little things. The way the sun begins to peak over the mountaintops, the sound of birds chirping, the joy in my teammate’s laughter, or that first sip of coffee in the morning. I haven’t been ignorant to these things, but since being quarantined for almost 3 weeks, I can’t stop from noticing it.

Part of the beauty that I have seen has been in our ministry partners. We had the opportunity to join the Misteco family after our time in quarantine. We helped in children’s ministry, prayed for people, gave out water filters, and constructed a room for a family in need.

Each day of ministry, joy radiated off their faces. Even though the work was hard and tiresome, they never let the smile fall. Serving their community is an honor that they do not take for granted. And whenever someone thanked them, they always directed it back to Jesus.

Even with the language barrier, we became family. And as I continue on throughout the race, they will always hold a special place in my heart.

The Lord’s beauty is reflected in so many ways. Simple things that make you stop and smile, but also in the people we encounter in our every day life. Stop for a moment, and take time to reflect on how you experience the beauty of God in your day to day.
