In the mountains of Honduras lies a little wooden church. Built by the hands of missionaries, it is a small building where mighty things happen. Each week, people from all over the mountain make the trek to hear the word of God. Last week, about 30 people attended church. But don’t let that number fool you. Even though that number is small, God is working miracles. He is bringing breakthrough and freedom and victory.

Something I have learned during my time as a missionary is that the same Spirit who lives in me is the same Spirit who is moving all over the world. He does not care whether you are in a big church in a major city in the states, or if it’s a small church on a mountain in Honduras. He is moving.

A few weeks ago, a few people from my squad and myself led worship. We incorporated both English and Spanish. They are the same worship songs you’ve probably heard at home, the same worship song so have sang in church for years. As we led worship, God was moving. We were together, not as Hondurans and people from the states, we were together as believers. Brothers and sisters in Christ. We were worshiping in our native languages, and it was beautiful.

It didn’t matter that we were a tiny church on one mountain of Honduras. God was still there. He was there before we ever arrived, and He will be there long after we have left. God is moving everywhere. In small villages we will never hear about, in big noisy cities that never seem to slow down, in countries where having a Bible is a crime, and where you are right now. He is moving, and it is so beautiful to watch. Will you join Him in what He is doing?

  1. Hey Zim! This is so beautiful! Thank you for reminding us that God is moving everywhere. Thank you for bringing us into your worship experience. I can just see all of you worshiping from your hearts to the ONE we love so much, Hondurans and Americans joined in One Spirit. This vision just brings such joy to my heart. We love you so much!

  2. What a glorious perspective, Zim! I can picture the Lord moving in us and throughout the world in this beautiful writing of yours. Thank you for sharing this wonderful experience from a tiny church, atop a Honduran mountain. I have tears of joy just imagining God working miracles, and the worshipping of Him, in two languages, simultaneously!
To top it all, your invitation to join Him, in what He is doing, sparks a big smile on my face. I love you and I am so proud of you!

  3. This is incredible!! I have thought that God wouldn’t ask us how many people attended our churches, but that He would ask what we did with the people He has given to us… and you said it well! Thank you for sharing!
